Today, cfiva.org would like to introduce to you Lawsuit Claims Popular Brand Of Honey Is Lying On Their Labels. Following along are instructions in the video below:
The last few months. Weve talked a lot here bring a fire about products products being mislabeled and consumers being duped into purchasing them well heres one that actually pretty interesting because this is one where we have a label that claims that the food product is raw not cooked. It is a raw product and yet.
Were finding out now that no the company is actually cooking it and if youre asking yourself how can that be shouldnt you be able to tell if a product is cooked or not its a little more complex than that and joining me to talk about the complexity. Here is scott hardy from top class actions com. Scott obviously what im referring to here is nature.
Nates raw pure 100 pure raw honey thats actually not raw and consumers obviously if youre looking at the the container of honey thats not something you can look at and say well no this is obviously a cooked product. So thats where we get into this label issue and this is very interesting to me because yes. This isnt something somebody can look at and say.
No i know the difference between a cooked. Honey and a raw honey and raw honey obviously more expensive lay it out for us. Yeah.
This as i consider myself a honey aficionado. So i i drink a lot of tea and i use a lot of honey. Its one of my strange addictions now i just cant help it so ive been trying different honeys which is well how this one caught my eye attention once one of our great campaign and im sorry.
Our community manager. Nicole brought. It brought it up is shes also a honey aficionado and so i was looking at this thinking nature.
Nates why would sort of be suing a honey manufacturer. You know where there are so many different little manufacturers going out there i didnt think theyd be worth going after frankly it turns out nature nature is actually a forty plus year old company that has been putting out honey for a long time. And its not just american honey looks like it from looking theyre getting their their honey from all over north america.
So looking at why this happened theyre saying that youre raaah honey and if youre trying to be healthy and make sure youre really getting that straight natural product. You want raw natural honey. But it has to be heated up at least a little bit typically to help pour it into jars.
And you know make sure that its more manageable. And what the class action states is that nature nates heats. Their honey up to a hundred and twenty degrees to make the bottling easier.
But to qualify as raw and unfiltered. It cant be heated above 105 degrees. Because when you heat honey above.
105 degrees. The class action alleges that the enzymes and the product reportedly break down and so that might cause it to lose its prized characteristics. According to the class action.
So its a very small technicality whether hed be the honey to 105 degrees or 120 degrees. But thats what this class action is going after stating that no you cant go ahead. And say.
This is raw honey. When in fact youre heating it above a point. Where the honey and the enzymes are starting to break down and thats a lot of the draw to these raw honeys these raw products you do pay a higher price for them because theyre supposed to be healthier for you i mean.
Theres a lot of health benefits to honey you know even to a degree. It has certain antibacterial products to it you know or properties to excuse me so when you heat. It even if it is just a little bit to help you be able to pour it better into a bottle.
You do run the risk of losing those benefits and therefore those things the extra goodness that consumers are paying for are no longer there youre not lowering the price to represent that this product. No longer has as much of the good stuff as it would have so consumers are getting duped. They believe whats on the bottle that this is raw.
It is unfiltered. It is you know basically fresh out of the beehive and ready to go. But theyre heating it to a temperature.
Where it is officially cooked the enzymes are breaking down youre losing some of the nutrients. And thats where theyre running into the problems. Here and so you know to me this is a lot like a lot of the other issues.
Weve talked about with the you know improper labeling on food products is that this the slightest little tweak to a name of the product. You know what their advertising could have prevented all of this but from the company side may have also slightly impacted sales a bit and almost every time from what weve seen from doing this for years. The company is gonna go with the thing.
Thats gonna make them the most money in the in the short term and not look at the long term consequences. Which to me is kind of you know what were seeing right here with this story. Exactly i mean cuz you can pay anywhere from 10 to 20 dollars for a jar or a bottle of honey and youre gonna be paying.
It could be upwards of twice as much for unprocessed honey as you would for just you know regular a little bunny bear that you would buy in the supermarket. And so nature nature. Knows that and thats as you mentioned.
Thats why theyre going ahead and selling it as raw honey. Even though its a slight variance in the temperature that theyre heating it up so ill be curious if were gonna see nature dates go ahead and come out and change how theyre actually processing. The honey as a whole maybe they will just heat up to 105 degrees.
And not cooked 120 or what theyre gonna do if theyre gonna drop the raw label. I cant see him doing that theyre a big big. Honey manufacturer and but being it to try to drop the raw label and drop a line from their honey manufacturing.
I dont think its gonna happen so ill be curious to see how nature dates comes through and settles this class action. If if they do you know this is still pending it might get thrown out it might not get certified and so to find the defense for nature nights will be a fun one to watch. If youre a litigation geek.
Like i am. Yeah. And you know really instead of dropping the raw label.
All they have to do just go over to the boiler. And just turn that temperature down. Just a little bit and then they can still make the claim without losing any of the goodness of the honey and im sure it even a hundred degrees honeys a little bit more malleable you can probably get into a bottle just as easily may run a little bit slower.
But youre still gonna be able to get it in the bottle scot hardy from top class actions calm. Appreciate you talking with me and and if anybody needs more information on this story. Please do follow the link in the description of this video go to top class actions calm.

Thank you very much for talking with us youre welcome farad. Thank you sir music you n hair. So i dont expect these to last like honestly if these last like six months to a year.
Ill be happy with that i dont think. This is going to be a pair that im going to just have for years and years now for me. I plan on wearing these occasionally dates maybe.
When im really getting dressed up filming. Things like that this is not going to be something that im going to put in my hair every single day just because thats just not who i am. So heres like the little bitty pieces right here.
And then the longer wefts just like this so as far as the amount of hair goes. I actually think that its perfect for me because my hair is thin like you look at my thickness of hair and then you look at the thickness of the extensions like theyre pretty much pretty well now if you have thick hair. Then you might need to get two bags or go with a company that just gives you more grams per weft.
And that might be a better choice for you. But as far as like finer thin hair like i think that its a good amount of hair for me so. Like thats how much thing is a pair.
So all that being is set aside. I was like okay well let me color. It oh my gosh like i have never had .
